Seven Days of Sketchnotes

Since I was a kid, I have constantly augmented my notes with diagrams and googly-eyed characters. 👀 Mostly as a distraction. Today, however, I make visual notes to understand and remember! Fortunately, designer Mike Rohde gave us a good term for it: sketchnotes

Below is a short video showing the last week of sketchnotes in my personal notebook.

Sketchnotes are evidence of my attempts to be an active learner, to transcribe information in various forms: spoken word, visual presentations, or dancing!

Most of the spreads shown are from the marathon 10-hour Startup Speedrun taught by Wade Pinder leader of the 1000+ member Houston Product Community. (Highly recommend both!!)

Also in there:

... a spicy talk by Chef Jassi at CreativeMornings in Houston

... a Model of the Month session with the The Value Web Learning Community

... Rice University and University of Houston sessions: EntrepreNeuro

At the gathering of neuroengineers, I was approached by several people who were curious about my sketchnotes.

And they each said: “Oh, I could 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 do that!”

These are amazing people who are building the hardware and software to enable humans to walk and speak again after devastating accidents, brain trauma, strokes, etc.

Even if you are a bit intimidating try it out!

C'mon! You don't have to show anyone. 😃

They are for you :-)
